Dense's new Fellowship Program is launching Summer 2023, in partnership with Monira Foundation, as we host our first cohort of changemakers!

Behind each Dense story is a community of contributors who operate at the forefront of today's greatest challenges – from advancements in labor practices, reparations, and biodiversity to resilient models of infrastructure, food security and human rights. We regard our contributors as change makers, and so to ensure that they can continue their visionary work, we are committed to supporting them through our new Fellowship Program, due to launch in Summer 2023.
The Dense Fellowship program will engage cohorts of multidisciplinary practitioners into the collaborative production of new works, in partnership with community-engaged organizations across the state and nation.
Our first partners are Monira Foundation, a New Jersey-based non-profit whose mission is to advance artists' works through experimental collaboration. Monira has generously awarded Dense with a 12-month residency as part of their Organization-in-Residence program, due to start in Fall 2023. This residency will support two cohorts of Dense Fellows working on contributions for forthcoming print issues and related community programming.
“We’re looking forward to hosting Dense as our organization-in-residence in Fall 2023. Their plans to host a series of three-month residencies and public programs speaks to their commitment to support change-makers of diverse backgrounds in a creatively immersive setting.”
Anne Muntges, Monira Foundation's Director of Residencies and Development
The Dense Fellowship Program is, in part, supported by proceeds of the Jersey Art Book Fair, coming to Jersey City on Jan 28–29, 2023. Learn more and get tickets here.
